Seven out of 16 seafarers killed in attacks on commercial vessels near the Strait of Hormuz between March 1 and July 14, 2026, were Indian nationals. This represents nearly 44 per cent of the total fatalities. The incidents occurred during a period of heightened tension in the crucial waterway, raising concerns about the safety of international shipping and the well-being of maritime.
