Supreme Court judges have declined to meet a parliamentary committee examining the 'one-nation, one-election' bill. The judges stated that discussing the proposed constitutional amendment would be inappropriate, as the bill could potentially become a subject of judicial review before the court. The Supreme Court's secretary general communicated this decision to the committee, led by BJP MP P P Chaudhary. Opposition MP Kapil Sibal had previously criticized the proposed meeting, citing concerns about the separation of powers.
