Business Standard · politics
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and allied opposition groups planned a protest at Jantar Mantar on Gandhi Jayanti, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Protesters cited alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and the Election Commission's handling of the Special Intensive Revision exercise. Delhi Police denied permission for the gathering, imposing prohibitory orders and increasing security. Entry and exit at 11 Delhi Metro stations were also closed. The protest was called by AISA, Manoj Jha, and Prashant Bhushan, with support expected from AAP and NSUI.
