Scientists Discover First Green Star in Space

Aaj Tak · science

Scientists have identified a green star, named WD J1330+6435, located about 280 light-years away in the Milky Way's Draco constellation. This white dwarf star's unusual color is caused by the interaction of sodium from disintegrated planets with helium within the star. Typically, star color indicates temperature, but this discovery suggests elements can significantly influence a star's hue. Researchers also observed a faint pink star, WD J1011+2845, in Leo Minor, colored by carbon.
