Six US Democratic lawmakers have asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio to voice concerns about alleged excessive force during student protests in India. Ahead of Rubio's visit, they cited a pattern of repression and wrongful detention by security forces. The lawmakers also accused the Indian Embassy of monitoring protesters in the US. They urged Rubio to press for investigations into alleged human rights violations and the release of detained individuals. India's Ambassador to the US called such remarks an unacceptable interference in internal affairs.
