Punjab Roadways Staff Begin Agitation, Threaten Complete Strike From Today

Contractual and outsourced workers of Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS, and PRTC have started an agitation, with over 3,000 state-owned buses likely to remain off the roads from Wednesday morning. Drivers and conductors have refused to operate services, demanding regularisation of contractual staff and direct department contracts for outsourced workers. The union stated that over 70 meetings with the state administration have failed to yield results. This strike is expected to disrupt services within Punjab, Chandigarh, and interstate routes to neighbouring states.

पंजाब रोडवेज, PUNBUS और PRTC के ठेका और आउटसोर्स कर्मचारी आंदोलन पर उतर आए हैं। बुधवार सुबह से 3,000 से ज़्यादा सरकारी बसें सड़कों से नदारद रह सकती हैं। ड्राइवर और कंडक्टर ने सेवाएं बंद कर दी हैं। वे ठेका कर्मचारियों को पक्का करने और आउटसोर्स कर्मचारियों के लिए सीधे विभाग से अनुबंध की मांग कर रहे हैं। यूनियन ने कहा कि राज्य प्रशासन के साथ 70 से ज़्यादा बैठकें बेनतीजा रहीं। इस हड़ताल से पंजाब, चंडीगढ़ और पड़ोसी राज्यों के बीच चलने वाली सेवाएं प्रभावित होंगी।
