MMA Debuts at Asian Games, Eyes Olympics

Mixed martial arts has debuted at the 2026 Asian Games, marking a significant step towards potential Olympic recognition. The version featured at the games, currently held in Nagoya, Japan, has been adapted to align with Olympic values, removing the cage and using an open mat with boxing-style gloves. Federation of International Mixed Martial Arts (FIMMA) hopes this modified format will gain approval from the IOC.
