Taco Bell experienced a larger-than-expected drop in quarterly same-store sales, significantly impacted by a multistate cyclosporiasis outbreak in the US. The outbreak, which began in early July, led to a substantial decrease in customer foot traffic. Despite a recovery in September and October, the chain's overall performance missed targets. Yum Brands, the parent company, also saw its overall same-store sales remain flat, missing analyst expectations. However, the company did beat quarterly profit estimates, and its shares saw a modest rise in premarket trading.
