Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has won Brazil's presidential election, securing an unprecedented fourth term after defeating far-right rival Senator Flavio Bolsonaro. Despite trailing by over two million votes in the first round, Lula achieved 51.79 percent of valid votes in the run-off. This victory marks a significant setback for the right-wing movement in Latin America. Bolsonaro refused to concede and called for the result to be annulled, echoing his father's actions in 2022. Lula's comeback was attributed to a revitalised grassroots and digital campaign.
