Actor-director S.J. Suryah has withdrawn his plea to be discharged from six criminal cases related to alleged income tax evasion. The Madras High Court dismissed his petitions, allowing the Income Tax Department's prosecution to proceed. Suryah's argument that assessment orders were set aside by the ITAT was countered by the prosecution, which stated the setting aside was on technical grounds. The court indicated Suryah would have to face trial.
