Rajya Sabha Polls For 12 Seats Across 3 States Scheduled For October 16

The Election Commission has announced elections for 12 Rajya Sabha seats across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal, scheduled for October 16. Ten seats are from Uttar Pradesh, one from Uttarakhand, and a bypoll for one seat in West Bengal. The terms for most members end on November 25. The Bahujan Samaj Party is set to lose its sole Rajya Sabha seat. These elections precede the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls next year and are expected to cause only minor shifts in the Rajya Sabha's party composition.

चुनाव आयोग ने उत्तर प्रदेश, उत्तराखंड और पश्चिम बंगाल की 12 राज्यसभा सीटों के लिए 16 अक्टूबर को चुनाव की घोषणा की है। उत्तर प्रदेश से दस सीटें, उत्तराखंड से एक सीट और पश्चिम बंगाल में एक सीट के लिए उपचुनाव होंगे। ज्यादातर सदस्यों का कार्यकाल 25 नवंबर को समाप्त हो रहा है। बहुजन समाज पार्टी अपना एकमात्र राज्यसभा सीट खोने वाली है। ये चुनाव अगले साल उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनावों से पहले हो रहे हैं और राज्यसभा की पार्टी संरचना में केवल मामूली बदलाव की उम्मीद है।
