Business Standard · business
The Indian rupee's earlier gains, boosted by FCNR(B) deposit flows under an RBI swap window, reversed in late September due to rising crude oil prices. Commercial banks had mobilised $133 billion in FCNR(B) deposits since the scheme's June launch, which closed early. Despite global economic challenges, India's economy showed resilience with strong GDP growth in Q1:2026-27 and sustained demand indicated by high-frequency indicators. Additionally, FDI flows strengthened significantly in July, reaching $7.4 billion, the highest in five years, with key sectors like communication and finance attracting substantial investment.
