An IIT Bombay professor shared how a colleague handled a student caught cheating with a smartphone and smartwatch during an exam last year. Instead of severe punishment, the faculty collected the device, allowed the student to finish, and later met him privately. They assigned zero marks for plagiarized sections while allowing credit for original work. The student submitted an apology and a written assurance against future malpractice, and is reportedly now flourishing.
