IEA Chief: Strait of Hormuz Transit Down

International Energy Agency chief Fatih Birol compared the situation around the Strait of Hormuz to a broken vase. He noted that transit volumes through the vital waterway have significantly decreased. Prior to February 2026, approximately 25 million barrels per day passed through. This figure has now fallen to roughly 15 million barrels per day, indicating a substantial reduction in oil flow.
