Kalyan-Dombivli Civic Body Appoints City Engineer, Seniority Questioned

Shailesh Kulkarni has been appointed as the city engineer of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), a move that has sparked controversy regarding the seniority criteria. Kulkarni, ranked seventh in the seniority list, was given additional charge of the post after the previous incumbent's transfer. Executive Engineer Surendra Tengale, who is ranked fourth, was also a contender. KDMC commissioner Abhinav Goel stated that the post is meant for a state government appointee and Kulkarni was given additional charge until then, citing officer capabilities over strict seniority.

कल्याण-डोंबिवली म्युनिसिपल कॉर्पोरेशन (KDMC) ने शैलेश कुलकर्णी को सिटी इंजीनियर नियुक्त किया है। इस नियुक्ति पर वरिष्ठता के नियमों को लेकर विवाद खड़ा हो गया है। पिछले सिटी इंजीनियर के तबादले के बाद कुलकर्णी, जो वरिष्ठता सूची में सातवें नंबर पर हैं, को यह अतिरिक्त ज़िम्मेदारी दी गई है। कार्यकारी इंजीनियर सुरेंद्र टेंगाले, जो चौथे नंबर पर हैं, भी इस पद के दावेदार थे। KDMC कमिश्नर अभिनव गोयल ने कहा कि यह पद राज्य सरकार के अधिकारी के लिए है और तब तक कुलकर्णी को अतिरिक्त ज़िम्मेदारी दी गई है, उन्होंने वरिष्ठता से ज़्यादा अधिकारी की काबिलियत को महत्व दिया।
