Winter Deadliest Season For Lung Disease Patients

Winter is the deadliest season for lung disease patients in urban India, causing nearly a third of all respiratory hospitalisations and deaths nationwide. A study published in Lung India, involving 245 medical centres, tracked nearly 2,900 hospitalisations and 394 deaths. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) was identified as the primary killer, followed by respiratory tract infections. Men accounted for a higher percentage of hospitalised patients and deaths.

शहरी भारत में फेफड़ों की बीमारी के मरीजों के लिए सर्दी सबसे जानलेवा मौसम है। यह पूरे देश में श्वसन संबंधी बीमारियों के कारण होने वाली लगभग एक तिहाई अस्पताल में भर्ती होने और मौतों के लिए जिम्मेदार है। एक स्टडी में सामने आया है कि COPD सबसे बड़ा कातिल है, इसके बाद श्वसन तंत्र के संक्रमण आते हैं। पुरुषों में अस्पताल में भर्ती होने और मरने वालों का प्रतिशत ज़्यादा रहा।
