Satheesan explained that the UDF had opposed the LKS, and its recommendations were not implemented, necessitating a new, more effective mechanism for expatriates. He also highlighted a significant shortfall of ₹700 crore in the Pravasi Welfare Board fund, impacting pension disbursements and requiring government intervention.

केरल के मुख्यमंत्री वी डी सतीशण ने लोक केरल सभा को भंग करने की घोषणा की है। उन्होंने कहा कि यह सभा अपने तय उद्देश्य को पूरा नहीं कर पा रही थी। विपक्ष LDF ने इस फैसले को प्रवासियों के लिए नुकसानदायक बताया है। सतीशण ने समझाया कि UDF ने LKS का विरोध किया था और इसकी सिफारिशें लागू नहीं हुईं, इसलिए प्रवासियों के लिए एक नए और बेहतर तरीके की ज़रूरत है। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि प्रवासी कल्याण बोर्ड के फंड में ₹700 करोड़ की बड़ी कमी आई है, जिससे पेंशन बांटने में दिक्कत हो रही है और सरकार को दखल देना पड़ रहा है।
