SpaceX's recent launch highlights the diverse power sources for satellites. Most satellites rely on solar panels to generate electricity from sunlight, storing excess power in batteries for when they are in Earth's shadow. Some smaller satellites, particularly those in deep space or with specific mission requirements, may utilize radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs) which convert heat from radioactive decay into electricity, offering a long-lasting power solution.
