The Federal Reserve is set to overhaul its bank supervision system, shifting responsibility from regional Fed presidents to Washington officials for clearer accountability. Vice Chair Michelle Bowman announced the creation of five geographic supervisory regions, each led by a regional leader. This change aims to address issues highlighted by the Silicon Valley Bank collapse, where examiners were slow to act. The new structure intends to foster a culture of accountability and clear decision-making authority within the supervisory function.
