IIT Bombay Apologises For Statement On Student Death

IIT Bombay has apologised for its earlier statements regarding the circumstances of a student's death by suicide on campus. The institute stated that it was inappropriate to characterise events before an investigation is complete. The student's family has alleged institutional harassment and caste-based discrimination, filing a case under the SC/ST Act. Protesting students presented 18 demands, and the director initially offered to resign, though IIT Bombay has denied reports of his resignation.

आईआईटी बॉम्बे ने कैंपस में एक छात्र की आत्महत्या के मामले में अपने शुरुआती बयानों के लिए माफी मांगी है। संस्थान ने कहा कि जांच पूरी होने से पहले घटनाओं को ऐसे बताना गलत था। छात्र के परिवार ने संस्थान द्वारा उत्पीड़न और जातिगत भेदभाव का आरोप लगाया है, जिसके तहत SC/ST एक्ट में केस दर्ज हुआ है। प्रदर्शन कर रहे छात्रों ने 18 मांगें रखी हैं।
