He pleaded for his supporters and school staff to be left alone, expressing deep distress over the alleged harassment.

समाजवादी पार्टी के प्रत्याशी आकाश अग्रवाल उत्तर प्रदेश एमएलसी चुनावों के दौरान फूट-फूट कर रो पड़े। उन्होंने बड़े पैमाने पर बूथ कैप्चरिंग और प्रशासनिक पक्षपात का आरोप लगाया। उन्होंने दावा किया कि सत्ताधारी पार्टी के समर्थक खेरागढ़ और छत्ता के मतदान केन्द्रों पर हुई घटनाओं का हवाला देते हुए खुलेआम वोटिंग में धांधली कर रहे थे। अग्रवाल ने चेतावनी दी कि अगर ऐसी प्रथाएं जारी रहीं तो वह लखनऊ की शाही ईदगाह में इस्लाम धर्म अपना लेंगे, और कहा कि उन्हें अपने ही देश में आतंकवादी जैसा महसूस हो रहा है। उन्होंने अपने समर्थकों और स्कूल स्टाफ को अकेला छोड़ देने की गुहार लगाई और कथित उत्पीड़न पर गहरा दुख व्यक्त किया।
