The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) will release a consultation paper on foreign institutional investor (FII) compliance requirements within weeks, according to chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey. This paper aims to align Indian norms with global standards and will be closely watched amid significant foreign capital outflows. FIIs have withdrawn billions from Indian equities this year due to rising US treasury yields and geopolitical uncertainties. Sebi is also reviewing regulatory processes to reduce compliance burdens and enhance operational efficiency for market participants.
