AIADMK Rebel MLAs Can Become Ministers After Resigning: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition challenging the resignation of six AIADMK MLAs who later joined the ruling TVK party. A bench stated that resigning and becoming a minister is part of the political process. The Madras High Court had previously upheld the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker's decision to accept their resignations. These MLAs had resigned after voting against the party whip and were subsequently elected as TVK candidates in by-elections. The court found their resignations to be voluntary and compliant with constitutional provisions.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने छह AIADMK विधायकों के इस्तीफे को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका खारिज कर दी है, जिन्होंने बाद में सत्तारूढ़ TVK पार्टी में शामिल हो गए थे। एक बेंच ने कहा कि इस्तीफा देकर मंत्री बनना राजनीतिक प्रक्रिया का हिस्सा है। मद्रास हाई कोर्ट ने पहले तमिलनाडु विधानसभा अध्यक्ष के उनके इस्तीफे स्वीकार करने के फैसले को बरकरार रखा था। इन विधायकों ने पार्टी व्हिप के खिलाफ मतदान करने के बाद इस्तीफा दे दिया था और बाद में उपचुनावों में TVK उम्मीदवारों के रूप में चुने गए थे। अदालत ने पाया कि उनके इस्तीफे स्वेच्छा से और संवैधानिक प्रावधानों के अनुसार थे।
