Madras HC dismisses election plea against Minister Sengottaiyan

The Madras High Court has rejected an election petition challenging the victory of Tamil Nadu Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan from the Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency. The petition was filed by AIADMK candidate V.B. Prabhu, who came third in the polls, losing by 26,280 votes. Minister Sengottaiyan, who contested as a TVK candidate, secured 82,612 votes. The court found insufficient materials to warrant a full trial, dismissing the plea at the initial stage.

मद्रास हाई कोर्ट ने तमिलनाडु के मंत्री के.ए. सेंगोत्तैयन की गोबिचेट्टिपालयम सीट से जीत को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका खारिज कर दी है। यह याचिका AIADMK उम्मीदवार वी.बी. प्रभु ने दायर की थी, जो 26,280 वोटों से हार गए थे। मंत्री सेंगोत्तैयन ने 82,612 वोट हासिल किए थे। कोर्ट ने पाया कि मामले की पूरी सुनवाई के लिए पर्याप्त सबूत नहीं हैं, इसलिए शुरुआती चरण में ही याचिका को खारिज कर दिया गया।
