Filmmaker SS Rajamouli has recalled shooting what he described as the "most violent" scene of his career for the 2003 Jr NTR-starrer Simhadri. The sequence, featuring the hero with an axe, was filmed in Kerala, notably in front of the Kerala Assembly. Rajamouli explained that the story required the hero to travel outside Andhra Pradesh, leading them to choose Kerala as a location. The Kerala portions were crucial for establishing the character's alter ego, Singamalai, and became an important part of the film's narrative.
