Oscar Wilde's famous line, “We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars,” from his 1892 play 'Lady Windermere's Fan,' continues to resonate over a century later. The quote acknowledges life's difficulties and mistakes without sugarcoating them. It suggests that hope stems from our choice to look beyond immediate struggles, even when faced with disappointment or harsh luck. This perspective offers a more honest form of hope than simple positive thinking, allowing for both hardship and aspiration simultaneously.
