Ramlila Maidan Sees Few Protest Bookings Amid High Costs

Delhi's historic Ramlila Maidan, a traditional site for political rallies, recorded only 27 bookings in three years, with just four designated for protests. Nine bookings were for political rallies by various parties, including the AAP and Congress. Despite being designated for protests, its high booking cost of ₹50,000 per day, a refundable security deposit, and the need for a no-objection certificate from traffic police pose hurdles. The venue's large size and lack of shade also make it less suitable for prolonged demonstrations compared to Jantar Mantar.
