Supreme Court Orders Random Vehicle Checks for Unpaid Traffic Fines

The Supreme Court has directed states and Union Territories to block vehicle services for motorists with outstanding traffic fines, which total approximately ₹49,194.05 crore nationwide. Vehicles with unpaid e-challans will be blacklisted on the Parivahan portal, preventing sale or transfer until dues are cleared. Authorities are also empowered to impound vehicles found with unpaid e-challans during random checks. This measure aims to address the significant amount of uncollected traffic fines across India.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट का आदेश: बिना भरे ट्रैफिक चालान वाले वाहनों की रैंडम चेकिंग होगी

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों को निर्देश दिया है कि वे बकाया ट्रैफिक चालान वाले मोटर चालकों के लिए वाहन सेवाओं को ब्लॉक करें, जिनकी कुल राशि लगभग ₹49,194.05 करोड़ है। बिना भरे ई-चालान वाले वाहनों को परिवहन पोर्टल पर ब्लैकलिस्ट कर दिया जाएगा, जिससे बकाया राशि का भुगतान होने तक उनकी बिक्री या हस्तांतरण नहीं हो सकेगा। अधिकारी रैंडम चेकिंग के दौरान बिना भरे ई-चालान वाले वाहनों को जब्त करने के लिए भी अधिकृत होंगे। इस कदम का उद्देश्य पूरे भारत में एकत्र न की गई ट्रैफिक फाइन की बड़ी राशि को संबोधित करना है।
