Russia's Underlying Inflation At 5-6% In August

Underlying inflation in Russia stood between 5% and 6% in August, according to the Bank of Russia. This was influenced by secondary and indirect effects from the fuel market and a weakening ruble. The ruble had previously appreciated in April and May but saw a noticeable depreciation against major currencies over the last three months. Consumer prices actually fell by 0.08% in August, but annual inflation accelerated to 6.33%.

रूस के सेंट्रल बैंक के मुताबिक, अगस्त में वहां की मुख्य महंगाई दर 5% से 6% के बीच रही। इसका असर ईंधन बाज़ार और कमज़ोर होते रूबल पर पड़ा। अप्रैल-मई में रूबल मज़बूत हुआ था, लेकिन पिछले तीन महीनों में यह कई बड़ी करंसी के मुकाबले काफी गिरा है। अगस्त में खुदरा कीमतें थोड़ी कम हुईं, पर साल भर की महंगाई बढ़कर 6.33% हो गई।
