Sikh Man Allowed To Appeal 21-Year Sentence

A 23-year-old British Sikh man, Vickrum Digwa, convicted of murder has been granted permission to appeal the minimum 21-year term of his life sentence. Digwa was jailed in June for fatally stabbing Southampton University student Henry Nowak. He is challenging the length of his sentence before the Court of Appeal on November 5. Digwa also seeks to appeal his murder conviction separately. The case gained attention due to Digwa's defence argument that the weapon was a ceremonial kirpan.
