Koraput police on Wednesday took control of an Andhra Pradesh police checkpost in the disputed Kotia panchayat, leading to the neighbouring state's police vacating the area. This development occurred amidst protests by Koraput residents against Andhra Pradesh's decision to hold local body elections in the disputed border region. Hundreds of protesters reportedly dismantled barricades erected by Andhra Pradesh police. Odisha officials stated that Kotia is an integral part of Odisha and security measures are in place to protect it.

गुरुवार को कोरापुट पुलिस ने विवादित कोटिया पंचायत में आंध्र प्रदेश पुलिस के चेकपोस्ट का नियंत्रण अपने हाथ में ले लिया, जिसके बाद पड़ोसी राज्य की पुलिस ने इलाका खाली कर दिया। यह घटना आंध्र प्रदेश के विवादित सीमा क्षेत्र में स्थानीय निकाय चुनाव कराने के फैसले के खिलाफ कोरापुट के निवासियों के विरोध प्रदर्शनों के बीच हुई। कथित तौर पर सैकड़ों प्रदर्शनकारियों ने आंध्र प्रदेश पुलिस द्वारा लगाए गए बैरिकेड्स को हटा दिया। ओडिशा के अधिकारियों ने कहा कि कोटिया ओडिशा का अभिन्न अंग है और इसकी सुरक्षा के लिए उपाय किए गए हैं।
