Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB) has announced its highest-ever quarterly net profit of ₹451.14 crore for the second quarter of FY27, a 42.09% year-on-year increase driven by strong core banking income and improved cost efficiency. The bank's total business saw its highest annual growth in 18 years, reaching ₹1.30 lakh crore. Despite this strong performance, TMB anticipates increased provisioning requirements under the upcoming expected credit loss (ECL) framework as its balance sheet expands. The bank is preparing for this transition, which is scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2027.
