A common belief that wearing tight bras can increase breast cancer risk is not supported by scientific evidence, according to Dr. Seema Jagiasi, a cancer physician. She explained that the lymphatic system is not a simple drainage pipe that gets blocked by tight clothing. The American Cancer Society also states there is no evidence linking bra wear to cancer risk. While tight bras can cause discomfort and irritation, they do not cause cancer.
