West Bengal Politics: Arup Roy Rejects Alliances, Madan Mitra Disagrees
Times of India · politics
Internal divisions have surfaced within the Democratic Trinamool Congress (DTC) regarding strategies for the upcoming municipal elections in Kolkata and Howrah. DTC chairman Arup Roy announced the party's decision against forming alliances with other parties, including NCPI, for the civic polls. However, Kamarhati MLA Madan Mitra expressed a differing view, suggesting that aligning with Mamata Banerjee's faction could be instrumental in defeating the BJP. Mitra believes that fighting together would prevent vote division and ensure a BJP defeat, while contesting separately could lead to fragmented votes.
