The Hindu - Business · business

The Indian rupee strengthened by 44 paise to 94.92 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on Wednesday. This appreciation was supported by interventions from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) aimed at reducing immediate dollar demand and limiting speculative foreign exchange exposure. The RBI has implemented several measures, including a special window for oil companies and tightened rules for forex derivatives, to curb volatility. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman acknowledged the rupee's significant depreciation over the past year and affirmed the RBI's commitment to managing currency fluctuations.
