Delhi Authorities To Shut Down All Illegal Dhobi Ghats To Curb Yamuna Pollution

All unauthorised dhobi ghats in Delhi are slated for closure to prevent further pollution of the Yamuna River. A recent inspection across 12 municipal zones revealed significant violations, including issues with effluent treatment plants and the use of unapproved soaps and detergents. Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar has directed immediate shutdowns and compliance with Delhi Pollution Control Committee standards at all authorised facilities. Three such ghats have already been sealed in Old Delhi, with more actions planned.

यमुना नदी को और प्रदूषित होने से बचाने के लिए दिल्ली में सभी अनधिकृत धोबी घाटों को बंद करने की योजना है। 12 नगर निगम क्षेत्रों में हाल ही में किए गए निरीक्षण में गंभीर उल्लंघन पाए गए, जिनमें एफ्लुएंट ट्रीटमेंट प्लांट की समस्याएं और अप्रमाणित साबुन और डिटर्जेंट का उपयोग शामिल है। नगर निगम आयुक्त संजीव खिरवार ने तत्काल बंद करने और सभी अधिकृत सुविधाओं पर दिल्ली प्रदूषण नियंत्रण समिति के मानकों का पालन करने का निर्देश दिया है। पुरानी दिल्ली में ऐसे तीन घाटों को पहले ही सील कर दिया गया है, और आगे भी कार्रवाई की योजना है।
