Rahul, Priyanka Detained After Protesting EC Chief Over SIR Process

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were detained by Delhi Police after staging a protest for over eight hours at Akashwani Bhavan. The protest, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the SIR process, began with a march from Parliament. Police barricaded the route, and despite warnings, protestors continued. Around 260 individuals, including 10 MPs, were detained. Rahul Gandhi refused to leave until a delegation met the EC, prompting police action to maintain law and order.

कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी और प्रियंका गांधी को दिल्ली पुलिस ने आकाशवाणी भवन में आठ घंटे से ज्यादा समय तक प्रदर्शन करने के बाद हिरासत में ले लिया। SIR प्रक्रिया को लेकर मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त ज्ञानेश कुमार के इस्तीफे की मांग को लेकर यह विरोध प्रदर्शन संसद से मार्च के साथ शुरू हुआ था। पुलिस ने रास्ते को अवरुद्ध कर दिया था, और चेतावनियों के बावजूद प्रदर्शनकारी आगे बढ़ते रहे। 10 सांसदों सहित लगभग 260 लोगों को हिरासत में लिया गया। राहुल गांधी ने प्रतिनिधिमंडल के चुनाव आयुक्त से मिलने तक जाने से इनकार कर दिया, जिसके बाद पुलिस ने कानून और व्यवस्था बनाए रखने के लिए कार्रवाई की।
