100-Year-Old Peepal Tree Rescued and Transplanted in Ahmedabad After Being Cut

Times of India · environment

In November 2022, a nearly 100-year-old peepal tree in Ahmedabad was cut down, leaving only a six-foot stump. Tree-transplantation expert Bharat Sisodia and his team rescued the tree, using a 50-tonne crane to move it nearly two kilometers to a new location. After replanting and providing care, the tree has reportedly begun showing new growth, with new roots emerging. Sisodia expressed concern that the tree might be cut again due to ongoing development, appealing for coexistence between nature and progress.
