The United States has officially withdrawn all its troops from Iraq, concluding a 12-year mission aimed at combating the ISIS. The final soldiers departed from the Erbil air base in the Kurdish region. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnel stated the campaign successfully defeated ISIS as an organized military threat in Iraq and the region. While the US will continue providing training and intelligence support to Iraqi partners, the withdrawal occurs amidst heightened tensions between the US and Iran.
