Vidarbha Embraces Rainwater Harvesting To Combat Drought Conditions
Times of India · environment
In response to widespread drought and water scarcity in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region, the Olava Foundation is promoting rainwater conservation. For nearly four decades, the NGO has focused on capturing rainfall to recharge groundwater and strengthen local water resources. They recently completed a project at a Nagpur district school, designed to collect, filter, and store rooftop rainwater, serving as a live educational tool for students. The foundation's efforts have previously helped villages like Pardi become tanker-free by improving local water retention and groundwater recharge.
