UP Gram Pradhan Body to Challenge HC Order on Panchayat Polls in SC

The Rashtriya Panchayatiraj Gram Pradhan Sangathan (RPGPS) announced it will challenge the Allahabad High Court's order to conduct Uttar Pradesh panchayat elections within three months. The organization plans to file a petition in the Supreme Court next week. RPGPS cited two main reasons for the challenge: the need to implement OBC reservations, for which a commission is still gathering data, and significant discrepancies in voter lists. The state government is also reportedly examining the order and may file its own challenge.

राष्ट्रीय पंचायतीराज ग्राम प्रधान संगठन (RPGPS) ने घोषणा की है कि वे इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट के उस आदेश को सुप्रीम कोर्ट में चुनौती देंगे जिसमें उत्तर प्रदेश पंचायत चुनाव तीन महीने के अंदर कराने का आदेश दिया गया है। संगठन अगले हफ्ते सुप्रीम कोर्ट में याचिका दायर करने की योजना बना रहा है। RPGPS ने इस चुनौती के लिए दो मुख्य कारण बताए हैं: पहला, OBC आरक्षण लागू करने की ज़रूरत, जिसके लिए एक आयोग अभी भी डेटा इकट्ठा कर रहा है, और दूसरा, मतदाता सूचियों में महत्वपूर्ण विसंगतियां। राज्य सरकार भी कथित तौर पर इस आदेश की समीक्षा कर रही है और अपनी अलग चुनौती दायर कर सकती है।
