Supreme Court Declines Panel's Proposal to Meet Judges on 'One Nation One Election'
Hindustan Times · politics
The Supreme Court administration has declined a proposal from a parliamentary panel to interact with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and other judges regarding the 'One Nation One Election' bills. The court's secretary general cited that the proposed constitutional amendments could be subject to judicial review, making such a discussion inexpedient. This decision followed discussions among senior judges and a directive from the CJI. Independent MP Kapil Sibal had also publicly objected to the proposed meeting, calling it unconstitutional and a violation of the separation of powers.
