LPU students protest turns violent, police lathicharge

Protests by Lovely Professional University students over unverified rape claims turned violent on Sunday evening. Students refused to lift a highway blockade, leading police to lathicharge them around 8 PM. Some police personnel and students sustained injuries during the confrontation, with reports of stone pelting. The blockade had caused significant traffic disruption on the Jalandhar-Phagwara National Highway. Unrest began after unverified rape reports circulated on social media, though police described them as rumours.

के छात्रों का अविश्वसनीय बलात्कार के दावों को लेकर विरोध रविवार शाम को हिंसक हो गया। छात्रों ने हाईवे ब्लॉक हटाने से इनकार कर दिया, जिसके बाद पुलिस ने रात करीब 8 बजे लाठीचार्ज किया। झड़प के दौरान कुछ पुलिसकर्मी और छात्र घायल हो गए, पत्थरबाजी की भी खबरें हैं। इस ब्लॉक के कारण जालंधर-फगवाड़ा नेशनल हाईवे पर यातायात बुरी तरह प्रभावित हुआ था। सोशल मीडिया पर अविश्वसनीय बलात्कार की खबरें फैलने के बाद अशांति शुरू हुई, हालांकि पुलिस ने इन्हें अफवाह बताया।
