Haryana Food Safety Cases: Over Half Fined Rs 10,000 or Less

In Haryana, 1,742 food safety violation cases were recorded between April 2025 and June 2026. A significant majority, 895 cases, resulted in fines of Rs 10,000 or less, raising questions about their effectiveness in deterring food adulteration. While some districts like Nuh and Gurgaon saw higher penalties in certain cases, many others, including Faridabad and Panchkula, predominantly issued lower fines. Food officials stated penalties are imposed based on the Food Safety and Standards Act, considering factors like harm to consumers and offence gravity.

हरियाणा में अप्रैल 2025 से जून 2026 के बीच खाद्य सुरक्षा उल्लंघन के 1,742 मामले दर्ज किए गए। इनमें से एक बड़ी संख्या, यानी 895 मामलों में ₹10,000 या उससे कम का जुर्माना लगाया गया, जिससे खाद्य मिलावट को रोकने में इनकी प्रभावशीलता पर सवाल उठ रहे हैं। जहाँ नूंह और गुड़गांव जैसे कुछ जिलों में कुछ मामलों में ज़्यादा जुर्माना देखा गया, वहीं फरीदाबाद और पंचकुला सहित कई अन्य जिलों में ज़्यादातर कम जुर्माना ही लगाया गया। खाद्य अधिकारियों ने बताया कि जुर्माना Food Safety and Standards Act के आधार पर लगाया जाता है, जिसमें उपभोक्ताओं को होने वाले नुकसान और अपराध की गंभीरता जैसे कारकों पर विचार किया जाता है।
