Najmeh Amini, a 23-year-old Iranian accounting student, has been sentenced to death on blasphemy charges for a social media post. She is currently held at Vakilabad prison in Mashhad, Iran. In addition to the death sentence, she received a 12-year prison term for charges including acting against national security. Amini's defense claimed her remarks were made while hallucinating, but the judge rejected this explanation. Human rights groups are concerned that Iran is using executions to suppress dissent.
