UNICEF: 1.5 Million Pakistani Children Face Online Abuse

An estimated 1.5 million children in Pakistan experienced online sexual abuse in one year, according to a UNICEF report. Around 85 percent of perpetrators were known to victims aged 12 to 17. Abuse often starts with friendly conversations or gaming, with perpetrators building trust using social media information. Many victims remain silent due to stigma and fear of family reactions, with Snapchat and WhatsApp being common platforms for abuse.

यूनिसेफ की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, पाकिस्तान में एक साल में करीब 15 लाख बच्चों ने ऑनलाइन यौन शोषण का अनुभव किया। इनमें से 85% अपराधी 12 से 17 साल के पीड़ितों को जानते थे। यह शोषण अक्सर दोस्ती या गेमिंग से शुरू होता है, जहाँ अपराधी सोशल मीडिया की जानकारी से भरोसा बनाते हैं। बदनामी और परिवार के डर से कई पीड़ित चुप रह जाते हैं। Snapchat और WhatsApp पर यह ज़्यादा होता है।
