Business Standard · business
Indian companies are increasingly hiring externally for C-suite positions, with 82.6% of roles filled by outside candidates this year, according to a CIEL HR report. While women hold significant senior leadership positions, their representation drops sharply in the C-suite to 9.6% and to 8.7% among CEOs. The study highlights a "shortage of pathways" for internal talent, suggesting a need for proactive succession planning. Most C-suite titles are concentrated in six major cities, and fewer than 40 senior leaders list generative AI as a skill.
