US National Guard Member Shot in Leg During DC Fight; Suspect Wounded

A US National Guard member was shot in the leg while attempting to break up a fight in Washington, DC, on Sunday night. The suspect involved in the altercation also sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen during an exchange of gunfire with Guard members. Both individuals were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred around 11:10 pm in the Eastern Market neighborhood, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department. Three Guard members discharged their weapons during the encounter.
