Trichy Corporation has begun milling the top 50-70 mm of old bituminous roads before relaying them. This process is crucial to maintain existing road heights and prevent properties on either side from being vulnerable to flooding. The initiative is part of the Tamil Nadu Urban Road Infrastructure Programme (TURIP 2025-26), which aims to redevelop damaged roads across all five zones. Milling is now mandatory for bituminous road renewal, ensuring that new road surfaces do not exacerbate drainage issues in low-lying areas.
