BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed plans to increase the number of teams in the WPL beyond the current five. These discussions will begin next year, focusing on expansion and other areas for improvement, including coaching and selection. Saikia highlighted the WPL's significant growth in fandom and revenue over its four years, establishing it as a dominant force in women's cricket and a major franchise league alongside the IPL.
